Este Soy Yo

There are very few men who dare to sing to other men. And even less those who dare to make original songs and videos in which they publicly profess their love for the same sex. Among them is Pedro Samper, who took the next step in his musical career this year and released his first album, entitled Este Soy Yo. We talked with Pedro recently to know a little more about this wonderful project:

What is your favorite song on the album?

The first one of the album, Quiero. It’s my favorite song because it was the first song I wrote and it’s the backbone of everything I’m doing. It talks about acceptance, love for your family and at the same time not wanting to disappoint them without disappointing yourself.

What motivated you to release Este Soy Yo?

First I recorded Quiero and I was going to release it as a single. But I started to compose more and I started to get songs from other songwriters. I had been wanting for a long time to make something of my own, and the people that follow me on social media were also asking for original material.

How do you describe the style or genre of the album?

It does not have a defined style, it is a very varied album because it has ballads, rock, country, electronic music, pop, a bit of everything.

What is the main message of Este Soy Yo?

We already live in a new era where we can say things as they are and a man can love another man freely and be happy.

¿Qué te motivó a lanzar “Este Soy Yo”?
